Maharishi Markandeshwar University, Sadopur (Ambala) organized a Two DayYouth Seminar on “Entrepreneurship & Skilling: A Springboard for Sustainable Development” in association with TERI (The Energy and Resources Institute) and Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports from 5th April, 2016 to 6th April, 2016.  Over 150 youth from different colleges/Universities, NGOs, NSS and NYKS from the state of Haryana participated in the event. The seminar creates an opportunity for youth to enhance their understanding on the trending issue of entrepreneurial and skill development. The seminar focused on pertinent and pressing issues and the brave & innovative enterprises and skills that have been used to tackle them in the state/region.

Seminar Objectives

•      To educate and create awareness on skill development and entrepreneurship opportunities available for youth in the social and environmental sector.

•      To engage youth with local communities, governments and other stakeholders to create opportunities for sustainable livelihood options through social enterprises.

•      To motivate and engage youth to play a proactive role in addressing social, economic and environmental issues through skill development and entrepreneurship.

•      To build a network of likeminded youth to act as peer educators and role models and ensure a collective voice.

The Youth Seminar was inaugurated by the Chief Guest Prof. Renu Vig, Director , UIET, Chandigarh who highlighted the importance of entrepreneurship for today’s youth and thrown a light on different entrepreneurship avenues available for the young generation to take up.  The seminar witnessed some very informative sessions on Academics of Entrepreneurship and Skill Development, Advancing entrepreneurship education and inspiring young people, role of soft skills development that influences behavioral change by Dr. Amit Malik Vaidaya from Ayugram and Ms. Medhavi Gandhi, Founder, Happy Hands Foundation. Ms. Medhavi Gandhi also shared a very inspirational talk on her journey from a MBA student to a successful entrepreneur. The seminar also witnessed various group activities, presentations, simulation exercises by the participants who enjoyed spell bound during the two day event.
