Maharishi Markandeshwar University, Sadopur (Ambala) organized an International Youth Day in association with Rajiv Gandhi National Institute of Youth Development on 12th August, 2016. The program creates an opportunity for youth to enhance their understanding on the trending issue of eradicating poverty and achieving sustainable production and consumption. The program focused on pertinent and pressing issues and the brave and innovative ideas that can be used to tackle the problem of poverty.

The Program began with SaraswatiVandana and lighting of the lamp by the dignitaries to invoke the blessings of Goddess Saraswati. Thereafter, the Chief Guest, Dr. Harish Sharma, Vice Chancellor, M.M University, Sadopur in his address, highlighted the importance of creating sustainable avenues of production and consumption for eradicating the evil of poverty from the society. The program also witnessed some informative and interactive session on skill development, entrepreneurship avenues available for the young generation, inspiring youth that influences behavioral change by the Guest of Honour, Dr. Amit Malik, Director, Ayugram. The guest of honour lauded the efforts of Dr.Tarsem Garg for developing world class infrastructure facilities for the professional growth of the students.In his presentation, Dr. Malik said that the problem of poverty may not be eradicated but certainly can be controlled if youth proposes some feasible and sustainable solutions for the same. The International Youth Day also witnessed various group activities, presentations, art work by the participants who enjoyed spell bound. A certificate of participation, requisite material for participating in different activities, t-shirts were provided to all the participants besides other hospitality. The winning teams and participants were awarded with medals and trophies.

Er. Rahul Singla, Training & Placement officer of the University in his address thanked Rajiv Gandhi National Institute of Youth Development, Management, Senior dignitaries, Staff & Studentsof the University and emphasized on the importance of celebrating International Youth Day.

The Registrar, Controller of Examination, Principals of different institutions of the University, Head of Departments, EDCIncharge also attended the program.
