Expert lecture by Ar. D.S. Rao on ‘Future Trends in Green Interiors’

School of Architecture organized an expert lecture on ‘Future Trends in Green Architecture’ on 18th January by Ar. D.S. Rao, an eminent architect who has done his bachelors from CCA, Chandigarh in 1978 and masters from Ohio State University, USA. Currently Ar. Rao is Director of the firm, Interior Designer Architectural Wall Systems in Muscat, Oman and Desirazu Associates, Mysore, India. He is the recipient of Best Teacher Award by Indian Institute of Architects, Triune in 2013 and Oman Green award in 2012.

Ar. Rao talked about the seven philosophies behind the green interiors today, naming them as new frontiers, aesthetics, education, flexibility, back to basics, eco-friendly, motivation quotient, redecoration in white and science of trees or better known as vriksha veda. The major thrust of his talk was preserving the environment by using green materials not only in the buildings but also in the interiors. He quoted instances from his own experiences of working with different companies and clients like IKEA.

The session concluded with question and answer session between the speaker and the students and the faculty. After the interactive session, Ar. Manmohan Khanna, Chairman, IIID, Chd Chapter thanked Ar. Rao for sharing his valuable experiences with the students. A token of appreciation was given to Ar. DS Rao by Prof Aradhna Jindal, Principal. The session ended with vote of thanks by Ar. Eva Prashar.
