The Department of Agriculture, Maharishi Markandeshwar University, Sadopur, Ambala organised a flower show and competition in its campus on 14th March, 2019. The students from various departments of the University participated and showcased their skills in competitions like flower arrangement, cut flower competition, potted plants competition and ornamental plants competition. Gardeners from nearby nurseries and plantations also participated in the show and presented exotic floral varieties. Vice Chancellor of the University, Dr. Harish Kumar Sharma graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. Dr. Sharma appreciated the efforts of the Department and said that the University will make concerted efforts to make this flower show and competition an annual feature of the University activity calendar.
The Registrar of the University, Prof. Raman Gupta presided over the prize distribution ceremony along with Dean Academic Affairs of the University Dr. Parveen Ailawalia and Head, Department of Agriculture Dr. Devi Singh. Abhinav Exotica private limited, Ambala and Rainbow Nurseries, Ambala won the joint first prize in the ornamental plants category. Mr. Rupesh Kumar from the Department of Agriculture stood first in the flower bouquet making competition. In flower jewellery making competition, Ms. Sharmila Begum from the Department of Agriculture won the first prize. In dry flower arrangement competition, Ms. Pooja from the Department of Agriculture came first. Faculty and students from various departments of the University were also present on the occasion.
