Case Study of ISBT at Chandigarh and Mohali
A study visit was organized by MM School of Architecture, Ambala on 06th August 2019 to Bus Terminals at Chandigarh (Sector-17 and 43) for the students of B. Arch, 7th semester as part of their academic curriculum. The objectivewas to obtain an overview ofdesign and structure of an Inter State Bus Terminal.
Key aspects of design of a bus stand involve traffic circulation in and around the site as well as zoning of spaces within the building to provide comfort to users and the staff. The students analysed it through visual inspection and measured key areas such as concourse, structural grid etc. The observations were recorded by students in the form of notes, sketches and photographs. The inferences derived from case study and library study will enable students to make most appropriate decisions for their studio designs with due consideration to the practical implications.
