Educational trip of 3rd year students from 2nd Feb to 11th Feb to Gujarat
MM School of Architecture organized an educational trip of 3rd year B.Arch. students from 2nd February to 11th February, 2017 to Gujarat with two faculties Ar. Ravi Mahajan and Ar. Vipasha Sharma. The trip was a learning experience “on wheels” not only for the students but also for the teachers. During the trip, Ahmedabad, Diu, Somnath, Bhuj and Raan of Kutch were covered up to reinforce the rich heritage and culture of the state in the minds of the students.
The tour started from Ahmedabad by meeting renowned Architect Ar. B.V. Doshi sir in his office Sangath. The students also visited NID Campus, Sabarmati River front, Sanskar Kendra, Tagore Hall, Villa Sodhan(designed by famous architect Ar. Le Corbusier), Sabarmati Ashram, Adalaj Step Well, Akshardham Mandir, Kankaria Lake, IIM Ahmedabad, CEPT and Hussain Doshi Gufa.
The students also explored the ancient architecture of Ahmedabad by doing a Heritage walk of old Ahmedabad City. The students were also engaged in the Pol study (Cluster of old houses) and also measured the Deewanji Ni Haveli.
The venture was a unique experience since apart from offering the students a deeper insight into the past, it also facilitated the students to grasp the realm of contrasts and breath-taking scenic delights of Rann of Kutch Etc.
