MM School of Architecture organized an expert talk on ‘Design concept journey’ by Ar. Rita Meshram& ‘Urban Planning’ by Ar. MekhalaSaha on 24th March 2021. The lecture was attended by students and faculty members. In the beginning Ar. MekhalaSaha mentioned the difference between urban design &urban development. She explained by giving example of Chandigarh City that what are the visible signs of change in cities& how can we measure the form of cities?
Later Ar. Rita took over and quoted “A conceptual model is a representation of a system, made of the composition of concepts which are used to help people know, understand, or simulate a subject the model represents” but students go straight into crafting what the interface will look like, before defining a solid vision on the conceptual model for that system. She also displayed few works of famous Architects and actuated the students to work on concepts more. She also announced a competition “The Process” Conceptual design of school of architecture for the students of MMSOA, which will undergo 2 jury sessions and the final results will be announced by 7th April 2021.In the end,Prof. Aradhna Jindal, MMSOA also shared her views on the subject of the day and she expressed confidence that students will certainly come out with solutions to the problem statement.
As per the feedback received from the participants it was a very good learning experience, the lecture helped them in their understanding about the importance of concept in design.
