INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE on Pilgrimage & Sustainable Cultural Tourism in South Asia: The Shaktipitha Perspective 14th-16th Oct 2016
Ms. Harveen Bhandari, Associate Professor, MM School of Architecture participated in three days International Conference held at Institute of Tourism Studies, Lucknow University, Lucknow, UP, India. Her two papers titled” Assessing the values of Cultural Heritage-A step towards Redefining the Pilgrim Experience” and “Goddess Pilgrimage Sites: A study of forms of Goddess worship in Himachal Pradesh” were selected for presentation. The Shaktipitha Conference was held with an intention to develop cultural-spiritual tourism in SAARC countries by acknowledging the importance of Shaktipithas and unite SAARC nations culturally by developing a “Shaktipithas Circuit”.
A total of 51 papers were reviewed and selected for publishing in the conference proceedings. The conference had participants from diverse disciplines like Architecture, History & Geography Deptt, Journalism and many more. The conference was very interactive and beneficial.
