Ar. Prateek Kannauji, a faculty member of MMSOA participated in AICTE sponsored Faculty Development Programme on “Applications of Geospatial Technologies in Architecture and Civil Engineering” organized by IKGPTU, Mohali, Campus-II from 16th – 20th December, 2019.

The first day of the programme commenced with lecture on fundamentals of remote sensing and its applications by Prof Krishan Mohan. It was succeeded by overview of satellite data extraction and sensors. The discussion in the next few days was taken over by eminent resource persons from various reputed organizations and institutes such as IIT Ropar, Panjab University and PEC who explained applications of GIS, spatial analysis, modern trends in mapping along with case studies and hands-on training session of ArcGIS software by ESRI experts. Prof. Prabhjot Kaur and Dr. Gurmeet Singh enlightened the participants about role of teacher in inculcating human values.

The programme introduced concepts of GIS which in current scenario play indispensable role in urban design, site planning, landscape architecture, environment planning and other relevant disciplines from micro to macro level thereby saving valuable time in processing information, its analysis and presentation.
