The students of IIIrd year B.Arch visited PEDA (Punjab Enrgy Development Agency), Chandigarh and Akshay Urja Bhawan, Panchkula to study various passive design strategies as part of their subject, Energy Efficient Architecture on 9th May. In PEDA, which is 5 star BEE rating building, students understood each and every aspect of building physics being applied in making the building well lit and energy efficient. The students were taken to a tour of the building by Mr Gurnek Singh who explained in detail every aspect of energy efficient design to the students. There was a Q & A round too between PEDA authorities and the students. After this visit, the students visited Akshay Urja Bhawan which again is a GRIHA 5 star rating building. The students took a round of the building to understand various concepts behind the energy efficient design of the building. Later on detailed statistics of the building design were explained through PPT to the students.

The visit was informative to understand the applications of various passive strategies being studied within the classroom and make a critical appraisal of the same.
