A Lecture and Workshop on multi-disciplinary design fields was conducted by Ar. Dishant Bhatia (Architect at D.Studio, Delhi) in MMSOA on 25th April, 2018. The workshop started with an interactive session named Baatein – Expressing Ideas and Other Possibilities – focussing on the conceptualisation and ideas of designs in different creative domains like cinema, music, animation, etc. The lecture also focussed on how different fields focus on conveying their ideas into different creative languages and mediums.

Examples of some award winning directors, musicians and animators were displayed to let students understand what goes through the mind of a creator and how the basic design elements can be identified in every spectrum of life. Basic ideas like shapes, volumes, levels, hierarchy, etc. were discussed using different art forms.

In the second half of the workshop, the students from 1st and 2nd year batches were divided into group of three and were assigned a task to design a product. Students were given a word – LIGHT – out of which they had to pen down a fairytale and design a LIGHT LAMP shade out of waste paper/material available to them.

The groups came up with different ideas and stories and out of which they managed to create innovative designs of lamp shades using natural or artificial lighting.

All in all, the workshop helped the students to express their ideas in a better an innovative way. They managed to think about models, shapes and ideas in another domain apart from architecture.
