Case Study To Hotel Shivalik, Chandigarh (Design)
Students of VI Semester, B. Arch from MM school of Architecture visited Hotel Shivalik View in Sector-17E, Chandigarh on 23rd January,2018 for their design problem. During the visit, students learnt different functions a hotel building can serve and how in a hotel design various aspects of hotel operations are integrated into each other effectively within a location to minimize the interference with one another.
The students were divided into five groups for better understanding and each group was assigned particular areas of the hotel. The main objective was to study the planning of all the areas of the hotel including the visitor’s areas like reception lobby, banquet, rooms, restaurant, bar, café etc. and service areas like kitchen, shafts, toilets, parking and other utilities in details. Students were told about the planning and relationship of different areas and services in a hotel building.
It was a highly educational visit and the students learned various fundamentals and planning techniques of different spaces in a hotel.
