In commemoration of International Women’s Day on 8th march 2020, the NSS unit of MM School of Architecture, MM University, Sadopur, Ambalaorganized a debate competition on “Women Empowerment”on 4th March, 2020 with an aim to present the Real facts, Thinking, Thought processof the people for the women of Our society.Four teams of two participants each, were selected for the debate. Three heated debate sessions were held of 8-8 min each on the current topics related to the women i.e. “Importance of gender equality in society”, “Women Upliftment (Re-marriages and Re-settlement of widow and divorced women)” and “Does a women’s lifestyle and choice of dressing sense is a reason for rape, molestation and harassment”. Students from all the years had participated with full enthusiasm and put their thoughts firmly in front of the judges and faculty members.Team of Rahul (B.Arch. 3rd yr.) and Aarush (B.Arch. 4th yr.) won the debate with the most influential talks and their views regarding the Gender equality and women empowerment, while the team of Manik and Anshul (B.Arch. IInd yr.) secured the second position. Towards the end of the session students were asked to take a pledge to respect women and accept their freedom to talk, dressing up and working in different sectors apart from their household works. The talk show was attended by first, second, third and fourth year students along with faculties of MM School of Architecture.Prof.Aradhana Jindal, the Principal of MM School of architecture had appreciated,encouraged and declared the event as a path changing for the betterment of the Society and gender equality.
