In order to celebrate the 133rdbirth anniversary of the legendary master architect, Le Corbusier, MM School of Architecture organized an expert lecture by Ar Deepika Gandhi, Director, Le Corbusier Centre & Chandigarh Architecture Museum, Chandigarh and also a faculty of Chandigarh College of Architecture on the most celebrated project of Le Corbusier.

Ar Deepika Gandhi has been working very closely in preparation of the Dossier for the ‘World Heritage’ nomination of the Capitol Complex, Chandigarh and thus was the most appropriate person for the lecture. She gave wonderful insights to the planning of the city beautiful and the philosophies and concepts that were involved in shaping the city the way it is. She highlighted the fact that the city was a creative result of not just Le Corbusier, but also his strong team that comprised of architects like Maxwell Fry, Pierre Jeanneret etc.

Ar Deepika Gandhi gave a quick yet in depth knowledge of the architectural elements and construction technologies involved in the making of the city. She elaborated what makes Chandigarh and its architecture the most celebrated in the region. She also explained the students about how the team of architects tried their best that city gives a feeling of belonging to the occupants and yet becomes a symbol of growth and development as the then leaders had dreamt of.

Overall, the lecture was very informative and students gained an in-depth knowledge of the city.
