An interior design extension lecture by Eminent Interior Designer Ashima Vashisht from AV consultants, Chandigarh was organized for the students of VIth semester on 2^nd March’2017. The purpose of interior design is to create a functional and beautiful environment. The elements and principals of design help to develop an aesthetic sensibility that shapes a pleasing environment. The

lecture aimed at bridging the gap between theory of design and the practical applications of the same. The students were briefed about the elements which form the basis of a good design. They learnt how to create balanced and meaningful compositions using the principles of interior design. Also, they came to know about the stages involved in the process of design starting from taking the client’s brief till the final completion of the project. The Interior designer shared her experiences about some of her works. Students also got a chance to see the pictures and details of some live projects being done by the interior designer.

On the whole, the extension lecture proved very helpful for our students.
