Lohri Celebration!!
MM School of Architecture celebrated ‘Lohri’, a famous folk festival of Punjab, on 9th January, 2019.The festival marks the culmination of peak winter and a traditional welcome of sun’s journey to the northern hemisphere in the northern regions of the Indian subcontinent. The day is also celebrated as a harvest festival as the festival is traditionally associated with the harvest of the rabi crop.
The students and staff of MMSOA, celebrated the occasion with full fervour around the bonfire and as we say, ‘Char ChaandLagana’, all added feathers to the cap. Every time we celebrate this festival, we get connected to our incredibly rich Indian culture and heritage. The warmth in the relations and euphoria in celebrations make MMSOA stand out distinctively in its neighbouring fraternity.
The programme involved a Puja Parikrama around the bonfire along with the distribution of Prasad, where these goodies found their way into the fire, as an offering to Agni, the spark of life for the abundant crops and prosperity and also to the Sun God, the giver of all life. The occasion progressed up further with full warmth and enjoyment as the students sang the famous Punjabi folklore, the tale of DulhaBhatti, a famous Punjabi heroand danced on the beats of dhol. Later, all shared the feast of lohri and gathered around for the group picture
